It’s all too easy to forget that for many millions of people, making an income online is a completely foreign concept. I mean, what is there to sell, who do you sell it to, how do they pay for it, how do they get their products, how do you actually “earn” some money and how does that money land in your bank account and so on? For absolute beginners to this industry these are completely legitimate questions.
To be brutally honest, there are literally thousands of ways that people buy “stuff” online and similarly, there are thousands of ways that other people earn money at the same time.
Think about Amazon, for example. They have a programme called Amazon Associates and people from all over the world join this and promote/sell/market products on the Amazon website and make themselves a commission by doing so. These people never own the products, they never have to hold any stock, they are not responsible for shipping the products to the customer, never have to deal with customers or customer service and yet can make money recommending products on the Amazon site to others by being a “middle man”! Typically, sites selling physical products will pay the middle man, called an affiliate, approx 2% to 15% of the sale price.
Amazon is a prime (pardon the pun) example of how this concept works. Ali Express is another along with eBay Partners and a few others but they mainly focus on so called physical products, tangible things you can actually hold in your hand and get delivered in the post (if small enough) or by a national and local courier.
For absolute beginners to this industry, it’s often way easier to get going with so called digital products. These can include things like e-books, subscriptions, e-tickets, courses etc…..for more info, consider this page from Wiki.
There are, again, multiple sources of these types of products and, contrary to selling physical products which can require huge numbers of sales to make a reasonable income, selling digital products or services can be financially much more rewarding with commissions paid to the affiliate being typically up to 70-75% of the sale price, sometimes more! This means that making a decent income online can be done by selling far, far fewer products.
There are other benefits to selling digital products as well, the main one being that the customer doesn’t have to wait to actually get the products delivered to them, they can be delivered virtually instantly over the net to your device…….desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone. Commissions can be paid in a number of convenient ways as well including by Pay Pal, direct credit to a bank account or by cheque/check.
If you like the idea of making money online but as an absolute beginner you have no idea of where or how to start, I have a suggestion. My absolute recommendation for taking someone from complete novice to accomplished online marketer is Wealthy Affiliate. Wealthy Affiliate is an online training, education and support platform that walks members from A (and I really do mean A) to Z….and when members get to Z, they know what they’re doing and are able to earn money on the internet.
They have a whole load of other benefits as well but suffice to say that getting novices a foot on the ladder is a great start so why not check them out here, there’s no need to get your card out, you’re not committed to anything and there’s no contracts or anything scary like that. Checking them out is completely free and you have nothing to lose by doing so….go on, give it a go!
